WELMEC is a cooperation between the legal metrology services of the Member States of the European Union and EFTA.
The principal aim of WELMEC is to establish a harmonised and consistent approach to
European legal metrology. Currently 30 countries are represented on the
WELMEC committee. Much of WELMEC's work is done by its
Working Groups (WGs). These groups produce
guidance documents which are available on the WELMEC website: http://www.welmec.org.
WELMEC WG 7 ”Software” was founded in 1996 to succeed the former WG7 ”Peripheral equipment, interfaces and microcomputers”.
WG7 now comprises representatives of type approval bodies from about 20 member states of the European Union and the EFTA,
and representatives of European manufacturers’ and distributors’ associations from the areas of weighing instruments, fuel
dispensers, and electricity and gas meters. This website is intended to provide actual information on
”Software in Legal Metrology” in general and the work of WG7 in particular. Comments and suggestions for improvement of this
website are welcome and should be addressed to the WG7 convenor see ”Contact”).
